  1. If i was Shirley Sherrod's boss and someone sent me the link to the video link, i would have observed the entire speech before making any major decision, like, firing her. when in the end, her speech was not negative at all, just a memory.

  2. I would be embarrassed that one of my "people" actually blew up the Agriculture's spot like that. It made them look bad, since Sherrod said those racial remarks, but I would actually sit down and watch the full video, because by studying Journalism, always look at the actual facts and get things fresh - brand new, in video wise, I would get the FULL video and watch it, just to see if resigning Sherrod is the best choice, and if it is needed.

  3. "I can't believe I hired this woman. Get her in my office immediately. We need to discuss her contract."

  4. If I was her boss I would fully analyze the whole entire video, before making any full decision. I would try and clear her name to those believe she had made racist comments when in all actually she was just trying to help.

  5. If i was Shirley Sherrod's boss i would be shock that she spoke of that manner and didnt think out her words . I would confront her and speak to her on what she said before doing anything serious. :D

  8. Before making any serious decisions I would first watch the whole video for more information about what Shirley Sherrod had said. Its always best to not jump into conclusion and fire someone right away.

  9. it seems as if people jump to conclusions too fast..for even a sec something is said the wrong way or done the wrong way it is instantly taken to heart without putting some thought into it. if i was Shirley Sherrod's boss i would have tried to understand where she was coming from. Everyone is a human being and we say things for a reason so watever she said must have been for a reason. You have to look deep within a person to actually understand them

  10. I would fire her ASAP because she embarrassed the department of Agriculture and shamed all of her followers.

  11. i would be dissapointed and embarrassed and most likely be considering firing Sherrod. Her use of language was unacceptable and the terms she put them in as well.

  12. I would bring Sherrod in my office and explain to her that the comment was very inappropiate. I would have Sherrod apologize in front of the press.

  13. If I saw the clip on the website, I would be very surprised at what Shirley said. I would confront her about it. However, I would want to see some more of the clip before I made a decision to fire her or not.

  14. I agree with Arjon because sweing one thing isn't always how it is. You have to see the whole thing or be there to really understand.

  15. if i were Sherrod's boss i would confront her about the situation and here her plead.

  16. If I was the boss of Ms. Sherrod I would sit her down and explain to her that i'm not mad at what she said in the two min clip because I fully agree due to all the years of suffering with african americans.

  17. i never would of thought of Shirley Sherrod as a racist . she cant work in this suit of business anymore

  18. If I was Shirley Sherrods boss I would be quite bothered what she said. I would then ask her to explain herself for her comments since what she said may have been interpreted wrong. Also I'm not sure if I would fire her for it anyway since she is entitled to free speech even if she was racist.

  20. The advertisement for the Guardian and the Shirley Sherrod e-mail are similar because they both relate to seeing all the different perspectives of something and to see all points of view.

  21. At first you might come to the conclusion that the man in the Guardian is robbing the woman from the way that he looks. This can be compared to Shirley Sherrod's situation because you might think that since she is African American, she would make racist comments against someone of another race.

  22. Shirley Sherrods video was similar to the video of the guardian because the entire substance of the story can be changed looking from a different perspective.

  23. The guardian And the Shirley Sherrod case are similar because depending on how you look at is how you judge the situation and it is hard to see the situation for what it is until you see it from all prospectives

  24. The Ad for the Guardian relates to the Shirley Sherrod situation in the same way that sometimes good acts look bad if not seen from all perspectives.

  25. I agree completely with Erik, and there isn't really another way to express it. Just that you need to see the whole picture/story before you start to judge something and get people in trouble or fired.

  26. The advertisement for the gaurdian and the Shirley Sherrod e-mail are similar because they both show diffrent points of views and show diffrent prospectives

    ReplyDelete
  27. I absolutely agree with jenny it's easy for one to misjudge someone or something with only one point of view

  28. In compare to Sherrod's video and the Guardian angel commercial video it is shown that a story must be seen from two sides. there are always two points of views. Sherrods story need to be looked at the bright side such as the bright side in the video where the man who seemed to be a robber saved the old man at the ending.

  29. The Advertisement we saw was more than similar to the shirley sherrod situation because it taught about getting the point of view of very angle , something that didnt happen with shirley sherrod , so now people should think before they react*

    ReplyDelete
  30. the sherrod emails and the guardian video are similar because they both show all the point of views and how t not judge them so easily

    ReplyDelete
  31. What happened in the situation with Sherrod was nonprofessional and gave a bad image to the ones who called Sherrod's resign. If I were Sherrod, I wouldn't resign until I KNOW they watched the full speech.

    ReplyDelete
  32. the video is similar because it showed how you should judge a book by its cover

    ReplyDelete
  33. The Guardian's video and Sherrod's speech are both similar because The Department or Agriculture jumped to a conclusion too quickly in thinking Sherrod was a racist, and in the video, the viewer jumps to a conclusion too quickly thinking the man is a thief when he wasn't.

    ReplyDelete
  34. the clip "the guardian" is like shirley sherrod's situation because the point of view needs to be seen by all angles before assumptions are made.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The Guardian and sherrod video are similar because if you look at the situation from all angles you can tell what really happened

    ReplyDelete
  36. Both videos have the same theme: point of view. You have to see everything to get the full grasp of it.

  37. The advertisement for Guardian and the Shirley Sharrod's e-mail's are very similar because in the beginning, everyone jumped to conclusion on both situations. But, if you have different perspectives and prolong reserach into the situation, you will come out with a different judgement.

  38. The Shirley Sherrod speech and the video The Guardian are very similar. In the video The Guardian you would think that the guy running was a mugger because of the way he looked but he was really saving someone. In the speech the department of agriculture jumped to conclusions because of the little clip of sherrod talking about a white man.

  40. For the first perspective of the guardian video and the Shirley Sherrod 2 minute speech we can see that both situations are not understandable. But, when we see the second perspective of both situations we can see a better picture and understanding of them.

  41. I don't think that, even if she came off as racist, I would let that influence my decision to really keep her or not because if she is good at her job and portrays excellent skill, that is more important than personal opinions that may otherwise be harmless. I would be more concerned at sending out her actual message (the video in full context) and be content is she is a responsible as Agriculture Secretary.
